Test the whole call, not just the voice.

A natural voice is important. The real check is whether the caller is understood, the result is accurate and the business receives what it needs.

Turn the next unanswered call into a useful enquiry. AI Receptionist from $59/month before tax · 60 answered minutes.

A phone conversation with an interruption leads to an evaluation checklist.
Test beyond the greetingIllustrative evaluation

Start with a routine enquiry.

Use a synthetic name and callback number. Ask a question the approved brief can answer, then check the saved enquiry against what you actually said.

Correct yourself halfway through.

Change a detail, interrupt politely and spell a word. Check that the final saved value is the corrected one rather than a confident guess or two conflicting answers.

Ask something it should not know.

An approved brief separates questions a receptionist can answer from unknowns.

Ask for a live order update, unavailable stock information or an appointment the system cannot confirm. A good result is a clear boundary and an appropriate message—not an invented answer.

Test the route when something fails.

Try unanswered fallback, unavailable voice service and failed notification delivery using safe test tooling. Check the visible status and whether the enquiry can still be recovered.

Use your existing business number too.

After configuring forwarding, test the route from the number customers already call. Confirm busy or no-answer behaviour, not just direct calls to the new number.

Keep a release record.

A brief leads to a test call before switching a line on.

Record the scenario, configuration version, observed result and any repair. Repeat affected tests after changing the greeting, provider integration or call-handling rules.

Your next step

Write down what a good call should capture.

A clear brief makes the test meaningful. Specify the caller details, approved answers and next step before you judge the result.
