A practical measurement guide

What do missed calls actually cost you?

There is no reliable universal figure. Start with the calls you can count, the enquiries you can follow up and the value of the work you actually win.

Turn the next unanswered call into a useful enquiry. AI Receptionist from $59/month before tax · 60 answered minutes.

A business call leads to a saved enquiry that a team can follow up.
Measure the next stepIllustrative process

Count the calls before valuing them.

For a typical week, record calls answered, calls missed, voicemails left and callers who tried again. Separate existing customers, new enquiries, suppliers and unknown callers. A missed call is not automatically a lost sale.

Look at what happened next.

Check whether your team received a usable message, when someone followed up and whether the caller still needed help. Where a real enquiry became paid work, use your own records to understand its value. Leave unknown outcomes as unknown rather than filling the gap with an industry average.

Compare the cost of a response, not just the cost of a ring.

A voicemail, a person and an AI receptionist each create different work for the team afterwards. Compare what reaches you, who must check it, the time to call back and the full service price. Test a real call pattern before deciding whether a different route saves effort.

Odette HQ does not claim that every missed call would have converted or that using an answering service creates a fixed revenue uplift.

Your next step

Put a value on your own call pattern.

Use the editable example with your customer value and realistic conversion rate. The result is potential revenue, not promised recovery.
